Porridge: The Natural Health & Beauty Tonic

Porridge: The Natural Health & Beauty Tonic

For 2012 many people have already made resolutions to make this year their healthiest year yet and I'm helping thousands of people doing my Drop Zone Diet to finally shed years of stubborn weight. Yet with many people on a budget, what better way to help achieve this goal than with a food that contains a raft of vitamins and minerals and naturally helps to relieve stress by ‘mopping up’ stress chemicals, lowers cholesterol, reduces depressive symptoms, and is regularly used by natural herbalists to treat mental and physical exhaustion.

The humble oat really is a natural inexpensive superfood and a makes a fantastic start to the day. Don’t bother buying expensive vitamins from the health shop as oats are jam packed with vitamins and minerals including:

   B Vitamins

   Potasium

   Magnesium

   Calcium

   Chronium

   Iron

   Folate

   Selenium

So porridge is a multi-vitamin in a bowl and if you follow my recipe below you are aiding digestive health and helps to take some pressure of liver by balancing blood glucose levels too.

I think it’s a delicious start to the day and if you give it a go then why not twitter me @jjnutrition to let me know your thoughts!

Remember if you want to lose weight and make 2012 your most GORGEOUS too then The Drop Zone Diet will help you lose 14lbs in 14 days to really kick start your happy healthy New Year.

The Drop Zone Diet

Porridge with Grated Apple & Honey

100g porridge oats

½ an apple grated

1 tsp Manuka honey

200g water

Place the porridge in a pan and cover with the water and simmer on low heat. Stir occasionally to release the natural starch (this will turn the porridge a lovely milky white as though it’s been made by milk) when desired consistency place in bowl and add the apple and honey.

Finally.........oats are a nervine tonic which means they help to soothe the central nervous system and so this brekafst is fantastic for anyway with muscle pain or spasms!
